When the furnace quits on a 5-degree January night, the AC fails during a July heat dome, or a pipe bursts at 2 AM, Cavinder Plumbing, Heating and Cooling is on call. We run 24/7 emergency dispatch from three Michiana offices: Granger HQ (13697 Brick Road), Mishawaka (4027 N Home St), and South Bend (3618 W Western Ave). Licensed Indiana HVAC (CO19900013) and plumbing (PC19700254). No overtime markups on after-hours calls.
Emergency HVAC We Handle
- No heat in winter: failed ignitor, flame sensor, gas valve, blower motor, inducer motor
- No AC in summer: failed capacitor, contactor, compressor, refrigerant leak, blower motor
- Carbon monoxide detector alarm (evacuate and call 911 first, then us)
- Gas smell near a furnace or water heater (leave the house, call NIPSCO 1-800-634-3524, then us)
- Heat pump stuck in defrost or producing no heat
- Mini-split communication or inverter fault
- Boiler no-heat or steam-pressure lockout
Emergency Plumbing We Handle
- Burst pipe flooding living space
- No water or no hot water
- Sewer backup into fixtures
- Active slab leak
- Water heater leak flooding basement or utility room
- Sump pump failure during heavy rain or spring melt
- Frozen pipe thaw and burst
- Main water shutoff failure
- Toilet overflow you can't stop
Before You Call: Emergency Shut-Offs
- Water: Main shutoff is usually in the basement or utility room where water enters the house. Turn the handle clockwise until it stops. If it's stuck, call us; we'll talk you through it.
- Gas: Main gas shutoff is at the meter outside. Use a wrench to rotate the valve 90 degrees until it's crosswise to the pipe. Then leave the area and call NIPSCO.
- Electrical: Main breaker is in the service panel. Flip it to OFF to kill all power. Use this for electrical floods, burning smells from electrical equipment, or furnace wiring fires.
- Sump pump failure: If water is rising in the pit, connect a shop vac or call us. Do not wait for the pit to overflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge extra for after-hours or weekend calls?
No. Cavinder uses flat-rate pricing 24/7. You pay the same rate for a 2 AM Sunday call as a Tuesday afternoon call.
How fast can you arrive?
Response time depends on location and which of our three offices is closest. Most emergency calls see a tech arrive within one to three hours, faster for properties near one of our offices.
What if my emergency is life-threatening (gas leak, CO alarm)?
Evacuate the house, call 911 for CO or fire, and call NIPSCO (1-800-634-3524) for gas leaks. Then call Cavinder to handle the HVAC or plumbing repair once the area is safe.
Do you handle commercial emergencies?
Yes. Cavinder's commercial division handles after-hours rooftop unit failures, refrigeration emergencies at restaurants, and commercial plumbing emergencies at offices and production facilities.
Can I pay with a credit card or finance an emergency repair?
Yes. We accept major credit cards. For larger emergency repairs, Synchrony and Wisetack financing is available with online application.
